At Tohoku International School our core values, or whole school learning goals, are promoted through our uniquely developed 5 STARS. The STARS essentially form the backbone to all programs offered here and we consider these attributes to be critical for the development of the whole child into caring global citizens. All students, parents and teachers are expected to adhere to the principles presented through the STARS.

Students should not be afraid to take risks! We encourage students to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things. Even when there may be risk of failure, students are encouraged to see the positive and learn from the experience.

There is a high expectation that all students behave and act responsibly across many contexts and setting. Taking ownership and responsibility for oneself and ones belongings is important. All students are encouraged to be excellent role models to others through doing the right thing even in difficult circumstances.
